Stacey Cook knows what success feels like, and she likes it. After years of consistently finishing close to the Audi FIS Alpine World Cup podium, she struck back-to-back second place finished in downhill to open the 2013 season. Then at the 2014 World Cup test events on Raptor, Cook won a downhill training run, but finished 19th in the race. That didn’t taste too good.

“I didn’t leave those World Cup races in Beaver Creek with a whole lot of confidence and I think that’s why it took me so long to find my speed last season. I’ve got to fix that.”

An April training camp helped the confidence part, now it’s time to pick up the conditioning pace while working on some personal projects. When not in the gym this spring in Mammoth, you’ll find Cook running a number of local programs to help fuel her legacy in the sport.

Most notably were her consecutive weekends of recreational skier/racer camps at Mammoth starting with a women’s specific Chix on Stix program May 16-18 featuring yoga, cooking demonstrations, hot springs and of course – lots of skiing.

Things ramp up for Cook on last weekend as she brought in fellow Olympians and Birds of Prey favorites Steven Nyman and Marco Sullivan to help coach the Stacey Cook and Friends Speed Camp.

Now, it’s gym time. As any coach and they’ll tell you Cook works as hard or harder than any woman on the Audi FIS Alpine World Cup. And with a bone to pick with Raptor, she has some extra motivation this off season.
