KRANJSKA GORA, Slovenia (Jan. 22) – Audi FIS Alpine World Cup leader Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) continued to put consistency in her technical skiing, recording her best slalom finish of the season in seventh at Kranjska Gora. The finish left Vonn's overall World Cup lead to 282 over Slovenia's Tina Maze. Austrian Michaela Kirchgasser snapped the five-slalom win string of her teammate Marlies Schild in taking the win.

  • Best slalom finish of the season for Lindsey Vonn in seventh
  • Vonn lost only slight ground in the World cup overall chase to Slovenia's Tina Maze who was fourth
  • Vonn also moved into the top 15 in the World Cup slalom standings
  • Julia Mancuso (Squaw Valley, CA) was 22nd for her first slalom points of the season
  • Mikaela Shiffrin (Eagle-Vail, CO) just missed qualifying for the final in 32nd
  • Resi Stiegler (Jackson Hole, WY) did not finish the first run and Hailey Duke (Boise, ID) also missed the top 30 cut
  • The women's Audi FIS Alpine World Cup now moves to St. Moritz for downhill, super G and super combined

Lindsey Vonn

I had an okay first run, it was a solid performance. I definitely lost a bit of time at the bottom - similar to yesterday. But I’m happy with my performance. I attacked from the start which is what I wanted to do.

My second run wasn't great — again. And I had problems — again. But I fought really hard. I gave it my all and pushed all the way but then unfortunately I had problems at the bottom again and I didn't quite do it. I really tried though, and seventh is my best result all season so I'm happy with it.

Tina hasn't closed the gap by much, I'm still nearly almost 300 points ahead of her. And my goal this season is to keep winning in the downhill, keep winning in the super G, win in the super combined … stay in the top three in the GS and try to stay with her in the slalom.

Universal Sports will air the women's slalom at 11 a.m. ET
