PARK CITY, UT (Jan. 25, 2017) - Family and fans around the world will be able to watch the USANA FIS Nordic Junior and U23 World Ski Championships live from Utah's 2002 Olympic venues Jan. 30-Feb. 5. Every event of the World Championships will be streamed live through the National Nordic Foundation. It's the first global live streaming package in the history of the annual Junior World Championships.
Daily coverage of all qualifying and competition rounds in cross country, nordic combined and ski jumping will be broadcast daily at www.nnf.ski/tv. The pay-per-view access will be available worldwide by the National Nordic Foundation as a result of a partnership between the NNF and the International Ski Federation and the host national organization, the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association.
NNF will be offering the full week of coverage in all sports for $49.95. Fans can also purchase events individually for $4.95 each. Competition begins on Monday, Jan. 30.
More than 500 athletes from nearly 40 nations are expected to take part in the Junior World Championships.
According to NNF, proceeds from the live stream will go back to support athletic programming. “This is a unique and exciting opportunity,” said Hennie Kashiwa, executive director of the NNF. “Not only are we able provide a service to the community and support the event’s organizing committee, but this is a chance to find new revenue that can go right back to the athletes. Tell your friends about it; this is going to be great.”
Production of the live stream in cross country and ski jumping is being managed through experienced partners. Cross country coverage at Soldier Hollow will be produced by Central Cross Country, with USA Nordic managing production of ski jumping from the Utah Olympic Park.
Live commentary on both cross country and ski jumping will be provided through integration of event public address announcers, Veteran cross country announcer Peter Graves will anchor coverage from Soldier Hollow along with Peter Ashley and Matt Heimburger. At the Utah Olympic Park ski jumps, Olympian Anders Johnson and veteran ski jumping announcer Carl Roepke will provide commentary.
