OBERHOFEN, Switzerland (Nov. 5) - The International Ski Federatin (FIS) has rescheduled the canceled Nov. 12-13 Levi, Finland World Cup slalom races as night races on Dec. 20-21 in Flachau, Austria.
Flachau has carried out successful womens' World Cup night slaloms during the 2010 and 2011 seasons - each race drawing tens of thousands of fans. The last men’s Audi FIS Alpine World Cup slalom event in Flachau took place in December 2004. Flachau also hosted the technical events for the FIS Junior Alpine World Ski Championships in 2007.
The U.S. Ski Team will continue to train on Golden Peak in Vail, CO and at nearby Copper Mountain in anticipation of the North American opening races on Thanksgiving weekend. Women tackle a giant slaom and slalom at the Nature Valley Aspen Winternational in Aspen, CO, while men will run a downhill and super G in Lake Louise, Alberta prior to the Audi Birds of Prey races set for the following weekend in Beaver Creek, CO.
The 2012 U.S. Alpine Ski Team will be introduced in Vail on Saturday, Nov. 5 during First Tracks, presented by Nature Valley, a public celebration at Mountain Plaza beginning at 4:30 p.m. MT and streaming live on www.UniversalSports.com.
