ZAO, Japan (Jan. 18) – Jessica Jerome (Park City, UT) posted the top result for the USA in 13th Saturday during the first of two World Cups in Zao, Japan, which also serve as the final two Olympic qualifiers before the historic debut of women’s ski jumping in Sochi. Sara Takanashi of Japan took the win. The athletes take on another jump Sunday in Zao, and the U.S. Olympic team for women’s ski jumping will be named Wednesday.

  • Adverse jumping conditions ruled the hill Saturday, prompting multiple delays and eventually forcing officials to cancel the second round of jumps. Scores from the first round determined the final results.
  • The athletes take on another jump Sunday in Zao, and the U.S. Olympic team for women’s ski jumping will be named Wednesday at the Utah Olympic Park.
