Snowboarders took to the snow at California’s Mammoth Mountain for the second of three stops on the Pop-Tarts U.S. Revolution Tour last week, when U.S. Snowboarding rookie Chloe Kim topped the women’s halfpipe competition with Maddie Mastro and Kelly Berger in second and third.
MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN, CA (Mar. 6) – Snowboarders took to the snow at California’s Mammoth Mountain for the second of three stops on the Pop-Tarts U.S. Revolution Tour last week. Snowboardcross, slopestyle snowboarding and halfpipe snowboarding athletes dealt with sunny, spring-like conditions as they battled for Rev Tour supremacy. In snowboardcross, Karen Kobayashi (Rye, NY) claimed the women’s title while Schuyler Caleb McFall (Park City, UT) topped the men’s podium. The following day saw Brandon Davis (Mammoth Lakes, CA) and Hailey Langland (San Clemente, CA) snag the men’s and women’s slopestyle wins. Next came halfpipe snowboarding, as Jake Pates (Eagle, CO) and Chloe Kim (La Palma, CA) emerged as the men’s and women’s winners. The Rev Tour heads to Sun Valley for the final stop of the season March 5-7.
Schuyler Caleb McFall (Park City, UT) won men’s snowboardcross, followed by Senna Leith (Vail, CO) in second and Joshua Cohen (Bondville, VT) in third.
Karen Kobayashi (Rye, NY) finished the women’s snowboardcross event on top, while Danielle Steinhoff (Colfax, CA) grabbed second and Colleen Healy (Truckee, CA) third.
Brandon Davis (Mammoth Lakes, CA) won men’s slopestyle with a 94.50, beating out Matt Chase (Chanhassen, MN) and Jacob Aaronson (Needham, NH).
Davis’ winning run: gap to 270, 180 to rail to 540 out, cab 540, backside 720 and backside double cork 1260.
Hailey Langland (San Clemente, CA) took top honors for the women’s slopestyle competition with a 90.00, besting Samm Denena (Orillia, ON) and Danika Duffy (Manhattan Beach, CA).
Langland’s winning run: gap to down, boardslide, backside 180, 360 and cab 540.
Jake Pates (Eagle, CO) took the men’s halfpipe title with a 91.50. He was followed up by Toby Miller (Truckee, CA) in second and Nathan Jacobson (Bend, OR) in third.
Thirteen-year-old U.S. Snowboarding rookie Chloe Kim (La Palma, CA) was the winner of the women’s halfpipe competition, as Maddie Mastro (Wrightwood, CA) and Kelly Berger (Mammoth Lakes, CA) rounded out the podium in second and third respectively.
