UTAH OLYMPIC PARK, UT (Dec. 21) – Nevin Brown (Streetsboro, OH) and Ashley Caldwell (Lake Placid, NY) stood tall on the top of the podium on Sunday. U.S. Freestyle Selections wrapped up, with the sun shining and the skies blue as the competitors flipped off the jump one after the other.

"It was a beautiful day again. The weather was perfect and the site was amazing," described U.S. Aerials Coach Ryan Snow. "Everything was really well put together for the contest and allowed both of our athletes to win the contest today."

Brown made it two on Sunday as he clinched the victory in the final competition at U.S. Selections. Canada's Travis Gerrits and Michael Rossi (Park City, UT) joined Brown on the podium.

Brown competed the same tricks as Saturday to oust the rest of the field. Brown's trick included a Double Full – Full and a Full Double – Full. Brown, who struggled landing tricks last season, has proved he has matured over the summer, showing early sign of improvement and consistency as the NorAm Cup Circuit begins.

"This weekend has given me a good foundation for the whole season coming up. Last year, I only landed two jumps in one competition all season, every other competition I only landed one of the two jumps," said Brown. "This is two competitions in a row that I ended up first and landed both my jumps, hopefully I can just keep this momentum going."

In the women's competition, young gun Caldwell finished first pushing Canada's duo, Genevieve Tougas, and Crystal Lee, into second and third. The USA's Jamie Myers (Boise, ID) added another solid finish under her belt as her comeback continues to improve with each jump.

Caldwell was able to compose her nerves separating herself from the field landing two impressive tricks, a lay full and a full full. The lay full consists of two flips, the athletes it straight on the first flip and twists in the second flip. The second trick, a full full, has two flips with a twist in each.

"I was a little nervous because yesterday I didn't do as well as I had hoped," confessed Caldwell. "Today I just really wanted to come out and land two nice jumps and finish well."

Brown and Caldwell will be joining members of the U.S. Aerials Freestyle Team in Steamboat Springs, CO to compete at Olympic Trials in hopes of winning a spot in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
