Level 100 Coaches Manual and On-line Exam

The U.S. Ski Team coaches, sport science staff, and sport education department have put together a comprehensive coaching manual for cross country coaches.  The content covers important training, technique, equipment, performance psychology and competition topics for coaches, with a focus on an age-appropriate approach based on long-term athlete development as described in the USSA Cross Country Training System.  This manual is the centerpiece for the Level 100 certification curriculum, and is purchased with the Level 100 on-line exam at the USSA Education Shop.

Comments about the Level 100 Cross Country coaches manual:

"You've hit a homerun here. If this kind of comprehensive manual had existed 17 years ago when I first started coaching, it would have saved me thousands of hours of research and the athletes I've worked with hundreds of hours of less than ideal training." - Program Director from Maine

"This manual is smashing! One of the best I have seen in any sport!" - Vern Gambetta, Gambetta Sports Training Systems

Continuing Education Partnership with USA Cycling

The USSA is pleased to announce a partnership with USA Cycling that allows USSA member coaches to access certain educational events and resources from USA Cycling at the USA Cycling member coach rate. As our sports have several physiological, psychological and tactical similarities, there is great opportunity for crossover learning to help cross country skiing coaches learn and innovate.

USA Cycling offers educational webinars to coaches on a variety of topics, many of which would be valuable for cross country coaches as well. Find their schedule of webinars here.

If you are interested in one of these webinars, contact USSA Sport Education for information to register at the USA Cycling member price.
