Alex Ferreira, a high school senior, has been climbing the freeskiing ranks for some time now. The young gun had three podiums in 2011-2012 and took top ten at the AFP World Championships in April 2012. This Aspen local was born into skiing and he just gets better every season.
In 2013 Ferreira made it to both X Games Aspen and Tignes. He had a great halfpipe run going during X Games but couldn’t quite put it to his feet. Nevertheless, he jumped up from 25th to 12th in AFP rankings and finished sixth at the Grand Prix at Copper. He is on the verge of cracking the podium in an extremely competitive men’s field.
