Alpine Programs

Ages and Participation- Phase 4

Biological Age: Puberty (Growth Spurt)

Age: Girls 11-14  | Boys 12-15

Training Age: 5-9 years in sport

Participation: Skis 4-5 days a week, 100 day a year. At least 30-50% free skiing and continues to play complementary sports.

Competition Period: December- April

Number of Race Starts: 15-30

Race to Training Ratio: 1:5

Age ranges vary. Early maturing athletes move through this phase at around 11 years old for girls and 12 years old for boys. Late maturers may not move through it until they are 14 for girls and 15 for boys, or even slightly older.
